JustUs teens create films exploring their lives and imagining their futures
Just Us is our filmmaking program for authors brought to us through court referrals, either as a preventative measure or as mandated participation. Authoring Action is an official agency of the court. Through the program, teens create films exploring their lives and imagining their futures.
At the end of each session, films are usually screened at a/perture cinema in downtown Winston-Salem at an event attended by community and family members, as well as personnel from the court.
This year due to the pandemic, a/perture cinema is hosting a small viewing for the Just Us teens, and Authoring Action is hosting a community-wide film premier via Facebook live. The viewing will be free for everyone in the community, but viewers also have the opportunity to become supporters by purchasing an advanced viewing package which includes everything you’ll need to enjoy the short films.
Advanced viewing packages are available for purchase now through Friday, March 26 at noon. Viewing packages are $25 each and include a printed program with information on each film and filmmaker, popcorn, and snacks to enjoy on the night of the premier.
The JustUs Virtual Film Premier featuring the Fall 2020 & Winter 2021 JustUs Session graduates will take place on Wednesday, March 31 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm via Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/authoringaction/).
